Tahighra, from the captivating island of Dominica, embarked on a new journey in New York City at age 23, pursuing her passion for music and arts. She initially settled in the Bronx, before finding her true home in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where she immersed herself in the vibrant Caribbean community.
Tahighra discovered her passion and love for singing at a mere 6 years old while singing in the church choir. Her first solo debut 'It Is Well with My Soul' moved the congregation fueling her zest for the spotlight.
Influenced by the diverse sounds of Soca, Dancehall, Reggae, and her island's unique Bouyon music, Tahighra draws inspiration from artists like Patrice Roberts, Tanya Stephens, Allison Hinds, Popcaan, Taurus Riley, Buju Banton, and Sizzla. Her goal is to create music that resonates globally, capturing the essence of Caribbean culture and serving as a beacon of creativity and expression.
